Having a cuddle
Here's me and my mummy. If I'm not too tired I get to have a cuddle with my mummy on a daily basis. It's a bit of a mission getting me out of my special bed, but the nurses looking after me are amazing and do whatever they can to make my time here comfortable. I love snuggling, in fact, it's probably one of my favourite pastimes!
Soraya in bed
This photo looks a little scary but let me explain all the bits and pieces. The little tube in my mouth feeds me, the wires hanging off my chest monitor my heart rate, the tube in my arm feeds me antibiotics, caffeine (to keep me awake coz sometimes I forget to breathe coz I sleep so deeply) and a lovely solution to fatten me up a little. Lastly, the thingy hanging off my ankle is another monitor which keeps track of my oxygen levels. I'm a pretty big baby for my age - born at 1.232kgs and 37cm long. It's going to be some time before I get out of here, but I can't wait and neither can my mummy, daddy and big sister!!!
Soraya with headgear
Here I am, little Soraya Wyndham. In this photo I am 9 days old (28 weeks and 6 days old gestational age). I was a real little rascal and couldn't wait to escape the warm, cushy insides of my mummy's tummy. Unfortunately it means I have to wear this silly headgear for a while ... it helps to keep my little lungs open so I don't have to do so much work. Underneath my headgear I have a head full of thick black hair - enough to make my daddy jealous!
