Exciting news

I've got some great news! Today (2nd Nov 06) I visited the SCIC (Sydney Cochlear Implant Centre) and found out that I am eligible for a cochlear implant.
It means that with lots of hard work and intensive therapy, I should be able to listen and speak just like everyone else. My big operation is planned for early January 07, and I can't wait. Mummy and daddy are so happy.

I'm going to do something I wouldn't usually do and handover to mummy. I'm pooped and off to bed so adios and sorry in advance if mummy gets on the wagon!

"Throughout Soraya's journey we have had unfathomable support from family, friends and the swag of medical staff who saved Soraya's life and have given her love, affection and attention as if she was one of their own. Now thanks to more skilled and caring people, Soraya will be given the gift of hearing. Peter and I are absolutely delighted, and what looked like a devastating outcome has now been replaced with lots and lots of hope for our little darling to lead a relatively normal life.

We would like to say thankyou. Thankyou for the phone calls, cards, gifts, dishes of delicious dinners when I was spending hour upon hour at the hospital ... kind words, tears, Poppysitting, shoulders to cry on, and genuine care and love of our little family ... we are blessed.

Today was a very special day for us. Like all parents, we just want the best for our little girls (Pops too). And although this is a slightly different path from the one we anticipated, we wouldn't swap Soraya for all the tea in China. We are so excited about this next chapter. And we will continue to share it with all the people who have walked beside us. Heather & Peter xxx "
